TubeGPT Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 18, 2026

Aurora Apps / Daniel Steel ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the TubeGPT app (the "App") handles information when you use it on your iPhone.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Our Approach

TubeGPT is built to keep your data private. The App has no user accounts and does not show advertising, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not sell your data. Your natural-language queries are processed on-device, and your precise location is never sent off your device. The App does make network requests to Transport for London's public API to fetch live route and disruption data, and it sends anonymized journey records to our backend to validate route accuracy, both as described below.

2. Location Data

With your permission, the App uses your iPhone's location to determine your nearest station and to work out routes to and from where you are. This location processing happens entirely on your device — your coordinates are never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can grant or revoke location access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

3. On-Device AI Processing

When you type or speak a request (for example, "get me to Victoria"), the App uses an on-device AI model to interpret what you're asking for. This processing happens locally on your iPhone — your queries are not sent to us or to any external AI service to be understood.

4. Live Transit Data (Transport for London)

To show live arrivals, journey times, and service disruptions, the App sends route requests (such as origin and destination station identifiers) to Transport for London's (TfL) public Unified API. These requests do not include your name, precise location, or any other identifying information beyond the station or route being queried. TfL is a third-party data provider and processes these requests under its own terms; TubeGPT is not affiliated with or endorsed by Transport for London.

5. Journey Logging & Route Validation

To catch routing errors and make sure TubeGPT's suggestions hold up in practice, the App sends an anonymized record of each journey you plan to our backend — the origin and destination stations and the route calculated. This record does not include your precise GPS coordinates, your name, or any device or account identifier that could tie it back to you. We use it to log journeys, and to simulate and validate routes after the fact so we can catch and fix routing errors. These records are kept on our servers for up to 30 days, after which they are automatically deleted.

6. Information Stored on Your Device

The following is created and stored locally on your iPhone, and stays on your device except as described in Section 5 above:

  • Your saved home and office locations, which are never sent to us.
  • Your recent journeys and searched routes, which are kept locally for quick access. As described in Section 5, an anonymized route-only version of each journey is also sent to our backend for accuracy validation.

7. Feedback & Issue Reports

If you choose to report an issue or send feedback from within the App, we receive what you submit — for example a description of the problem and the journey or route you were viewing — along with basic technical information such as your device model, OS version, and app version. We use this solely to fix issues and improve route accuracy. It is not linked to your identity, not used for advertising, and not sold.

8. Data Storage & Security

Aside from the anonymized journey records described in Section 5, the live route requests sent to TfL, and any feedback you choose to submit, App data is stored locally on your device. It is only as accessible as your device and any backups you choose to make (for example via iCloud or encrypted device backups, which are governed by Apple's privacy practices).

9. User Rights & Control

We do not hold an account for you, so there is no personal profile for us to access or delete on your behalf. Journey records sent to our backend are anonymized and are not linked to your identity or device, so we have no way to identify or delete a specific record on request — they are automatically purged after 30 days. You remain in full control of the data on your device — you can clear your recent journeys and saved locations in the App, and uninstalling removes all locally stored data.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
