Cipher Terms of Use
Last updated: October 6, 2026
By using Cipher (formerly named C0DEX; the "app"), you agree to these terms and to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies to your use of the app. If these terms and the Apple EULA conflict, the Apple EULA prevails. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
What Cipher is
Cipher is an AI assistant for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It answers questions you type or speak using a third-party AI service (OpenAI). Using it means your questions, voice recordings and, if you allow it, your location are sent to that service, as explained in the Privacy Policy. You are asked for permission before this happens.
Plans and billing
- Free: 2 requests, so you can try Cipher.
- Weekly (auto-renewing subscription): renews every week at the price shown in the app until you cancel. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at purchase and again within 24 hours before each renewal, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Lifetime (one-time purchase): a single payment with no renewal.
- Included usage: paid plans include up to 300 AI requests per month. The allowance resets monthly. Cipher is not "unlimited"; the cap exists to keep the service sustainable for everyone.
- One subscription, all your devices: your plan applies to your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
- Cancel, manage or restore: manage or cancel any time in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. Use Restore Access in the app to restore a previous purchase. Refund requests are handled by Apple.
Prices and availability may change; the price shown at purchase is the price you pay.
Using Cipher responsibly
- AI answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Don't rely on Cipher for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or emergency decisions. In an emergency contact your local emergency services.
- Don't use Cipher to break the law, harm others, or attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or overload the service or get around its limits.
- You are responsible for what you ask and for how you use the answers.
Availability and liability
Cipher is provided "as is" and may change or be unavailable from time to time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aurora Apps / Daniel Steel isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms; the date above shows the latest version.
