Cipher Support
Cipher is a voice and text AI assistant for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch (formerly named C0DEX), published by Aurora Apps / Daniel Steel. This page covers how to get help, and answers to the questions we hear most.
Contact us
Email support@aurorapps.com for any question, problem, feedback or data request. A real person reads every message and replies as soon as we can.
To help us fix things quickly, include:
- What you were doing and what happened instead.
- Your device (iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch model) and its iOS or watchOS version.
- The Cipher version (Settings, then General, then iPhone or iPad Storage, then Cipher) and whether the problem is on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.
- For data or account questions, your Support ID (see "Privacy and your data" below).
Please don't send passwords, payment card details or other sensitive information.
Plans and purchases
What does each plan include?
- Free: 2 requests to try Cipher.
- Weekly subscription: auto-renews every week until cancelled; includes up to 300 AI requests per month.
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase with no renewal; includes up to 300 AI requests per month.
One plan covers your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy.
I bought a plan but Cipher still shows the free limit
Open the plan screen in Cipher and tap [ RESTORE ACCESS ], signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with. If that doesn't fix it, email us and we'll sort it out.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone or iPad open Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, choose Cipher and tap Cancel Subscription, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves, but we're happy to help if something went wrong with your purchase.
I ran out of requests
The free plan's 2 requests don't renew; when they're used, Cipher shows the plan screen so you can choose a plan. Paid plans include up to 300 AI requests per month. If you reach that limit, Cipher tells you the date it resets and your allowance comes back then.
Using Cipher
Cipher asks for permission before answering
Cipher answers using a third-party AI service (OpenAI), so it asks for your permission before anything is sent. If you chose "Not now", Cipher can't answer questions until you agree. You can change this at any time in AI & Privacy (account button, then AI & Privacy).
The microphone or location isn't working
Cipher only uses the microphone while you are recording a question, and your location only if you allow it. Check Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Microphone (or Location Services) and make sure Cipher is switched on. Questions that don't need your location work without it.
My Apple Watch doesn't show my plan
Your plan is shared between your iPhone and Apple Watch. Open Cipher on your paired iPhone once, then open it again on the Watch. The Apple Watch app can also work over cellular without your iPhone nearby once it has picked up your plan.
An answer was wrong or inappropriate
AI answers can be wrong, so don't rely on Cipher for medical, legal, financial or emergency decisions. Cipher declines to give medical advice and points you to a healthcare professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
To report a wrong or inappropriate answer, email support@aurorapps.com with what you asked and what Cipher replied, and we'll look into it.
Privacy and your data
- Withdraw AI permission or delete your chat history: open AI & Privacy in the app (account button, then AI & Privacy). Chat history is stored only on your device.
- Delete the usage record on our server: Cipher keeps a small record (an anonymous ID, your request counts and whether you have a plan). No chat text is stored. To have it deleted, email us with the Support ID shown at the bottom of the AI & Privacy screen.
- Read the full Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Cipher also uses Apple's standard EULA.
Requirements
Cipher needs iOS or iPadOS 18.2 or later and, for the Apple Watch app, watchOS 11.2 or later. It's available on the App Store.
